Randy Pike
Welcome to our bed and breakfast on the outskirts of Ambleside
Even if you forget the name, although that’s pretty unlikely, you'll never forget the deep-filled comfort that is Randy Pike. Rococo meets Gothic meets luxurious living at Andy and Chrissy Hill's bijou boutique B&B,
You'll feel a bit like royalty here, what with the huge rooms, the seriously large, hand carved beds, the enormous bathrooms, the lavish colours, the richly textured designer fabrics, and the sumptuous breakfasts, served to you in your suite, All fit for a king or queen.Formerly a hunting lodge on the Wray Castle estate, Randy Pike is tiny, cosy and satisfyingly difficult to find "The Times"
The Vallelay suite is named after Andy’s grandfather, Martindale comes from Chrissy’s family, and Dawson a nod to "Dr Dawson" who built it in the 1850's
Of course Randy Pike is all laced with a bit of eccentricity. The Hexagon-shaped Juniper House for instance, has a ceiling light made from an upturned log basket,
a huge gate stone in the bathroom and reclaimed industrial shelving with little labels saying ‘kilts and sporrans’ or ‘itchy tank tops’ and ‘string vests’.
But eccentricity is what people love about the place. And if you want to be brought back down to earth there’s great countryside right outside your front door. You can see Wansfell and Windermere (lake) from the wrap-round decking outside The Juniper House ‘Rest, wake, relax and repair’, say the couple. What else can you do?
